Banbury Joins Philips
Keith Banbury OBE, one of the most respected individuals within the UK parking industry, is joining Philips Collections Services as Director of Parking Services.
Keith joins Philips, now the largest independent collection and Enforcement Company in the UK, after stepping down as Chief Executive of the British Parking Association (BPA), which he joined in October 2001.
He will help to drive Philips’ plans to increase its share of the parking market and will be instrumental in helping the company to achieve its long-term objectives. Keith, who was awarded the OBE in the 2006 Queen’s Birthday Honours List, will also help spearhead a new initiative being developed by Philips, to be announced shortly.
A member of the Association of Police Officers (ACPO) Parking Steering Group, Keith has also been given a brief to communicate and liaise with Philips’ current and new clients and, because of his vast experience and distinguished profile, he will represent the company at exhibitions and conferences and will deliver speeches and presentations.
Keith said: “I am looking forward to working with a company that I have come to know very well over recent years and which I know shares my vision and ambition for the development of the parking sector. I have been invited to consider several options in recent months but Philips was the one that I found to be the most exciting and compelling. It is an excellent collection company with a great reputation for the way it manages and conducts its business and I am particularly looking forward to helping to develop a new service that I know will create a huge amount of interest.”
Nick Bradley, Chief Executive Officer for Philips, said: “Keith comes with an impeccable pedigree and unrivalled knowledge of the parking sector but his experience will help to strengthen our services across our portfolio. We are very happy to have him on board.”
Since joining the BPA, Keith has been instrumental in the development of a number of initiatives to help raise standards in the parking industry. He instigated a major independent review of decriminalised parking enforcement, the development of a model contract to standardise on-street parking enforcement, the introduction of a national parking attendant training course and the further development of the Safer Parking Scheme.
Alpha Parking, who currently provide Philips Training Academy’s tuition, will also be harnessing Keith’s expertise. Philips are very happy for Keith to work as an Associate with Alpha and feel that he will greatly assist the future of parking training.
